I Watched Pirates of The Caribbean

Every week usually me and my friends have a movie night where we get together to watch movies and hang out for a bit, the last couple of movies we watched were the saga Pirates of the Caribbean. I had only seen them as a child, barely remembered anything, and one of my friends was watching it for the first time in his life. Overall the first three movies were amazing, funny and exciting, every new addition would leave us with grins on our faces and a huge love for the famous Captain Jack Sparrow. The only thing that I didn't enjoy so much was the fact that the superior ship Jack x Elizabeth wasn't canon, but I'm already used to not getting what I want in this department.  My favorite scene actually got a funny reaction from me, that scene happened in the third movie when Elizabeth betrayed Jack with a kiss and left him there to die. First, I found it kinda hot, but also I loved how it contrasted perfectly with how they impacted each other. Elizabeth always believed that de...

I Watched DC Super Hero Girls

When we talk about DC Super Hero Girls three things might pop up in our brains, first simply the image of the multiple female heroes on DC, second the cartoon show from 2015 and lastly the most recent cartoon that came out in 2019. Both shows showcase an alternative reality where the DC heroes are teenagers and frequent high school together.  Now I have never watched the original show, personally find its design quite boring. The second show however conquered my heart immediately on Cartoon Network, so much that I couldn't resist properly watching everything once it was out on Netflix. Our main heroes in this story are Batgirl, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Green Lantern, Bumblebee and Zatanna, a group of girls that throughout the story fight villains, save the day and go through the hardships of high-school in a very simplistic and comic way.  Starting from the most obvious aspect, the character designs are amazing. They may look a bit childish (this is a show for kids, what...

My Pokémon Journey - Fiction

My First Fanfic: It's Monday, the beginning of the week and the first day of school, after a good weekend peacefully at home. Most kids are excited to go back to meet their friends and play with everyone while learning interesting subjects about the world and especially about Pokémon, meanwhile, our protagonist is a little upset over having to once again join a social situation where she just feels left out. Little Gloria has some trouble interacting with other kids, it isn't as if she doesn't want to make friends, but she simply is too afraid to say something as simple as a hi. Deep down she wishes she could be like her hero, Leon the unbeatable champion of Galar, he is someone that is always smiling and supporting everyone in his city, always ready to stand up for the weak and face all kinds of challenges that go his way. In comparison, Gloria is just a skinny brunet with short hair, always inside her oversized red jacket and with zero confidence in her body, there’s no...

Should Sensible Topics be Out of Video Games?

A Little Thought: As people are aware, the USA is going through some hardships related to the reproductive rights of women, and as I reported on the news post PlayStation had some controversy over how it's leader Jim Ryan dealt with the situation. What I propose to talk today is not so much about whether we should respect people's opinions or not, but rather the various reactions I have seen from the public regarding the outlets reporting this news, and the companies who are voicing their opinions.  For many years now, I have followed the Portuguese version of the popular site Eurogamer , a place where one can read multiple news regarding video games, as well as some reviews. The site by itself is amazing, and I don't have any critics to it, however its community can be a bit harsh from time to time, especially when it comes to talk about the more sensible issues. The latest occurrence of this phenomenon, was yesterday - 17/5/2022 - when it was reported that Sony and Insom...

I Watched Heartstopper

Heartstopper Great Representation: Heartstopper is a well-loved story about two school boys with different social circles that fall in love with each other, the typical love story of the nerd and the jock. I have never read the Webtoon that originated the story or the serialization of the book, but I remember seeing the latter around as a well selling book on my local libraries. So when it was announced that Netflix would be releasing a TV show, I was very curious about it, adding it to my watch list immediately.  My younger sister started the show much earlier than me, which knowing myself is not surprising, and immediately started to weave thousands of compliments about it, some of my friends too had told me about how they loved the show, so by the time I sat down on the couch to watch, I was pretty hype. Usually I hate being hype about stuff because it's a step closer to end up in disappointment, but with this production I'm glad to say my expectation were met.  Hear...

I Watched Den-noh Coil

Internet, Grief and Depression: I'm a big fan of a site called Anifem , where a bunch of people get together to write and produce podcasts about anime and how they fare within feminist views, everyone is really amazing, and I highly recommend checking them out. Since I found the site somewhere last year I've been going through their backlog, reading and listening to all of their content, and that's what led me to find Den-noh Coil, a show about young kids living in a reality where augmented reality glasses are a thing.

My First Pokémon Game

What it feels to become a Champion: Pokémon is a very popular franchise, selling millions of copies with each new addition and reaching an audience of millions with its multiple anime projects. Overall, almost everyone has heard about it, no matter their age or interest in the franchise, me included. I grew up watching the anime on TV and was a big fun of the adventures of Ash and Pikachu, now older I still like to check the new shows from time to time, especially the amazing shorts The Pokémon Company has been putting out on their YouTube channel. When we change the focus to the games, though, I'm a complete newbie. Through my life, my little  experience with them was simply playing a few minutes on my friend's 3DS and GameBoy nothing too deep but finally after many years of seeing my friend's completely addicted into these games i ended up buying one for me.

Hard-Work

The Struggle of Motivation: It's very common to see people call very high skill individuals talented, though most of them end up not liking this type of compliment because it erases the hours of training they have endured until that point. When we say someone is talented, it usually means that they have a natural aptitude or skill and implicates that they don't have to try to be good. Now talent exists, some people are more prone to learning certain topics quicker than others, but that alone doesn't make the individual, they won't progress much if they don't put the time to sharpen themselves.

Who is Katie?

Knowing the Baka: Helloo! My name is Katie Dragneel, not really, but it is my online persona, I'm a Portuguese girl in my 20s and some people might know me from writing in a Brazilian blog and doing some dumb stuff on Twitch. I'm creating this blog "Katie The Baka" because I'm mostly bored and going through a hard time, you know depression is a bitch, and thought it might be cool to have a little place for me to write to the void my ideas and opinions on all random topics like life stuff, games, anime and whatever I have my mind into.
