I Watched Super Mario Bros

After the disaster of John Wick, I adventured myself, now with a new group of friends, into another April big release. We went to see Super Mario Bros The Movie.

Mario is a character that pretty much everyone from grandmas to little kids know. It's Nintendo biggest mascot and one of the most iconic game characters of all time.

Like I've shared in my text about Warioware, I've obviously heard about him and interacted with his games in some capacity before. But only this year have I really sit down to play the games and fully experience the classics.

Nonetheless I like the Mario Universe and I have always been head over hills for his way cuter brother Luigi. Peach has also been someone whose design I liked but always saw as a mere damsel in distress with little agency. Bowser you know Internet has made me see him kinda of as a kinky dude. Then you have Mario itself who I honestly never really cared about.

Going into this movie I was a bit apprehensive, some people really enjoyed it but some reviews said it lacked imagination and was too basic. I was scared to be disappointed two times in a week, but my love for the Bowser and Luigi ship wouldn't let me back down! I knew something special would have to come, even if it's just more amazing fanart on Tumblr!

So me and my gorgeous best friends sit down on the theaters and we are greeted to Brooklyn and two very charismatic brothers. The beginning is slow, a showcase to the lives of these plumbers with some easter eggs on the background and a beautiful commercial with all the Mario voice we are used too. I wanna shout out the portuguese voice actor that truly captured the feeling of the English catch phrase ITS A MEE.

Overall good start nothing to flashy, still i was apprehensive about this adaptation, but I clearly didn't need too, the moment we enter the world of Mushroom Kingdom things just keep getting better and better. The movie is genuinely fun and turned Mario into a very nice and likeable dude, giving him a quite sweet personality.

Peach was the biggest surprise however, instead of following the typical storytelling of being kidnapped and waiting patiently for the hero to go rescue her. Here we are shown a strong and independent princess, in no moment she feels weaker than Mario, she might truly even be stronger.

Honestly there's not even reason to make this debate, they are presented as equal both with their strengths and disadvantages supporting one another. I've never really cared about their ship, even if it's probably the one that makes sense, but here I bought it. I felt the love, the chemistry!

Another chemistry I felt was with Donkey Kong. I know him by name but I've never touched a single game of the franchise, I only know that it's a family of monkey's. DK was extremely funny and his friendship with Mario was a highlight. They we're always in a love hate relationship and you know, I'm sorry but... I kinda ship it.

Sadly the main ship had little interaction, Luigi and Bowser both looked hot and amazing but sadly very few ship material. Truly disappointing and that's why I consider this movie garbage, 1/10 worst thing ever. I'm joking, the kinky scene with the chin was good enough for me. XD

But yeah, all the characters we're fun and relatable, especially the little star. Bowser signing was wow and all the little references to whatever you can imagine make it an amazing package to any fan or movie enjoyer.

If you can, I highly recommend checking out and try to see if you see the perfect representation of me as a player. Literally best game adaptation cause it stayed true to how it feels to actually play. Now I'll go back to saying Its a me and lessa gooo while probably insulting many Italians.

Hard-Work

The Struggle of Motivation: It's very common to see people call very high skill individuals talented, though most of them end up not liking this type of compliment because it erases the hours of training they have endured until that point. When we say someone is talented, it usually means that they have a natural aptitude or skill and implicates that they don't have to try to be good. Now talent exists, some people are more prone to learning certain topics quicker than others, but that alone doesn't make the individual, they won't progress much if they don't put the time to sharpen themselves.

Always One Step Behind

It's been a while since I've thought about this little blog of mine, a long time since I've felt the urge to come back and share some of my dumb words with my sweet void. As usual, my life has been pretty hectic, with lots of new things and new experiences, all pretty exciting but at the same time all pretty demoralizing. As you probably know, I've always been a shy and quiet kid, my teens were spent in my room alone playing video games inside the closet. This made me lose a lot of the experience in life one should get in its teenage years, this never bothered me before but lately I'm starting to see some of the consequences.   It's starting to really bother me how little I know compared to my friends and as I get to finally experience the things I missed in my younger years, I noticed how frustrating it is to deal with a world that already knows double of what you know. Going out at night and drinking, getting into my first relationship all these things start...

I Watched Den-noh Coil

Internet, Grief and Depression: I'm a big fan of a site called Anifem , where a bunch of people get together to write and produce podcasts about anime and how they fare within feminist views, everyone is really amazing, and I highly recommend checking them out. Since I found the site somewhere last year I've been going through their backlog, reading and listening to all of their content, and that's what led me to find Den-noh Coil, a show about young kids living in a reality where augmented reality glasses are a thing.
